Two properties of carbon and calcium are compared:

30 mg of carbon are left by totally burning a match 120 mg. Treating this carbon sample in a microwave results in releasing high energy of heat and light. While carbon is brittle calcium is malleable and shows a silvery lustre.

Calcium reacts vigorously with water: A quarter of 30 mg Ca release about 5 mL gas that is tested as hydrogen.                                     German see below (Deutsch siehe unten)        

 Zwei Eigenschaften von Kohlenstoff und Calcium werden getestet:

30 mg Kohlenstoff bleiben beim vollständigen Verbrennen eines Streichholzes von  120 mg. Behandelt man diese Kohlenstoffprobe in einer Mikrowelle, dann setzen sie viel Licht- und Wärme-energie frei. Kohlenstoff ist sehr spröde, Calcium ist schmiedbar und zeigt metallischen Glanz.

Calcium reagiert sehr lebhaft mit Wasser: Ein Viertel von 30 mg Ca setzen dabei etwa 5 mL eines Gases frei, das sich als Wasserstoff testen lässt.
